The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has inaugurated its newly- approved Conditions of Service (CoS) to enhance operational effectiveness of workers.

‎NSIB Director General, Capt. Alex Badeh, said during the inauguration on Friday in Abuja, that the new framework would also enhance safety outcomes across Nigeria’s transportation sectors.

‎According to him the new CoS marks a significant step toward strengthening welfare of staff members, institutional efficiency, and global best practices in accident investigation.

‎”The document is a collective covenant that goes beyond administrative rules to define the rights, responsibilities, and professional expectations of all personnel within the agency.

‎”The development comes amid broader reforms under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, whose Renewed Hope Agenda has repositioned the bureau to report directly to the Presidency.

‎”This restructuring is expected to enhance the agency’s operational independence and reinforce its role as Nigeria’s sole multimodal accident investigation body,” he said.

‎According to him, the newly approved CoS provides clear frameworks for career progression, including appointments, promotions, and training opportunities.

‎He said the new CoS would also establish transparent disciplinary procedures and outline comprehensive welfare provisions like, leave entitlements, medical services, allowances, and performance-based rewards.

‎The NSIB boss said the document balanced employee rights with a strong demand for professionalism, confidentiality, and dedication qualities considered critical in safety investigation work.

‎”The Conditions of Service guarantees that diligence, integrity, and commitment will be recognised and rewarded.

“It aims to foster a unified and highly disciplined workforce capable of meeting international standards.

‎”I call on the staff members and union leaders to study and internalise the provisions of the CoS, which takes immediate effect, as part of efforts to build a more motivated and efficient institution,” he said.
