The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapel, has honoured public affairs strategist and entrepreneur, Dr Theodore Okwunicheta Ejikeme (T.O.E.) Ekechi, with its highest honorary title of Grand Patron and the Most Outstanding Out-of-Home Advertising Icon of the Year 2026 award in recognition of his contributions to media development, advertising and national development.

The awards were presented at a ceremony in Abuja, where the union commended Ekechi for his record in public administration, strategic communications, entrepreneurship and sustained support for the media profession.

According to the NUJ FCT Chapel, the recognition reflects his commitment to promoting ethical leadership, democratic values and responsible public engagement.

Reacting to the honour, Ekechi expressed gratitude to the union for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue contributing to the growth of the media and advertising industries as well as national development.

A former Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ekechi has also served as Director of Planning and Monitoring of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Coordinator of the APC National Control Centre, and Federal Commissioner representing the South-East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) between 2019 and 2023.

He is also Chairman of the Marketing and Media Group, an integrated marketing communications company with interests in advertising, branding, media services and consultancy.
