Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has officially endorsed Alhassan Yahya as its candidate for the national president of the union in the upcoming election.

The endorsement was announced in a communique issued by the council yesterday after its monthly congress held on Saturday.

Yahya, currently the deputy national president of the NUJ, is running to succeed Chris Isuguzo for the top position at the forthcoming Triennial Delegates Conference scheduled for November in Owerri, Imo State.

The congress also adopted Abimbola Oyetunde as the candidate for the deputy president position.

“The Lagos Council of NUJ adopted Alhassan Yahya and Abimbola Oyetunde for the posts of President and Deputy President respectively at the forthcoming Triennial Delegates Conference scheduled for Owerri in November,” the communique reads in part.
