The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that corps members will receive a new monthly allowance of N77,000 starting in February 2025.

The Director General (DG) of NYSC, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, disclosed this while addressing 2024 Batch C Stream 2 corps members at the Katsina State Orientation Camp.

He stated that the Federal Government has approved the new allowance, which has been included in the national budget and is awaiting final legislative approval.

Brigadier General Ahmed urged corps members to demonstrate discipline and good moral conduct to appreciate the government’s gesture. He advised them to avoid unnecessary travel and focus on integrating into their host communities to make meaningful contributions.

Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of acquiring at least two vocational skills to enhance their self-employment chances.

He revealed that the NYSC has partnered with organisations such as the Bank of Industry (BOI), Access Bank, and Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Foundation to provide loans and grants for corps members with viable business proposals.

Addressing security concerns, the DG assured corps members that no one would be posted to areas with security threats; acknowledging some security challenges in parts of Katsina State, he reiterated that most of the state remains safe for service.

The announcement of the N77,000 allowance has been met with excitement among corps members, who see it as a significant boost to their welfare and motivation during their service years.
