Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, made a memorable and colourful appearance at the 2026 Lisabi Festival, popularly known as Egbaliganza, on Saturday, March 28.
Fondly called “Ebora Owu,” Obasanjo’s grand arrival at the Ake Palace drew admiration from attendees and added prestige to the already vibrant cultural celebration taking place in Abeokuta.
The 39th edition of the festival is dedicated to celebrating the legacy of Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, the legendary Egba hero known for his courage, leadership, and role in uniting the Egba people. The annual event serves as a platform to honour history while promoting cultural pride among indigenes.
Obasanjo was warmly received with cheers and excitement as he joined other dignitaries, traditional leaders, and guests at the palace. His presence further underscored the significance of the festival as a major cultural event in Ogun State.
Egbaliganza continues to showcase the richness of Egba heritage through colourful traditional attire, music, and cultural performances. The festival not only celebrates unity and resilience but also provides an opportunity for younger generations to connect with their roots and preserve their cultural identity.
