Coordinator of North East Coalition for Peter Obi (NECPO) Campaign Organisation, Hon. Joseph Enan Maigari, has alleged threat to his life from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State.
Maigari, who narrated his ordeal to journalists, claimed that “Due to my patriotic political activities to take back our country, there has been discreet and underground plots by desperate politicians in Adamawa State to silence me through assassination plot.”
Although he did not mention any name, the NECPO coordinator alleged that in a series of phone calls made to him on several occasions, a group acting in support and on behalf of one of the top politicians in the state in conjunction with some political thugs, have vowed to carry out attacks on the group.
While condemning the act of political thuggery in Adamawa State as the general election draws nearer, the Labour Party chieftain warns of dire consequences of the actions of the marauders if not checked as it is capable of derailing the forthcoming general election.
Maigari stressed the need to nip in the bud all political thuggery and intimidation by ensuring that the activities of the hoodlums are tracked, monitored and the ugly situation averted from creating tension and fear in the minds of law-abiding citizens of the state.
He said, “We will not be silenced as this country belongs to all of us and everyone”.
Maigari appealed to all Nigerians to align with the positive proposal of the Labour Party to fix the country and turn around the fortunes of Nigeria from being a consuming nation to a producing nation with a view to taking back the country and restoring Nigeria back on the path of hope.
Maigari appealed to political parties to keep strictly to the tenets of their party manifestos and control the activities of their followers by ensuring that they are kept under check to maintain peace. “It is by doing so that we can have enduring peace and Nigeria can move forward under our democratic settings,” Maigari said.
