Odele Age-Group Tennis Tourney Reaches Exciting Climax

The fourth edition of the annual Gbolahan Odele Age-Group Tennis Tournament will climax on Saturday with the finals scheduled to take place at the Adejumo Tennis Sports Complex, Ejigbo, Lagos.

The week-long youth development tournament, which began on Sunday, 23 August, has featured budding talents competing in the Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 boys’ and girls’ categories across two venues – the FAAN Tennis Quarters in Ikeja and the Adejumo Tennis Sports Complex.

Organised by Badejo Sports in conjunction with the Chief Gbolahan Odele Foundation, the tournament has again provided a platform for young players to showcase their talents while gaining valuable competitive experience.

A major attraction of the competition is its Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) recognition, which gives the young players an opportunity to improve their ratings and gain greater exposure.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s finals, Chief Gbolahan Odele expressed confidence that the players would produce competitive encounters in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.

Odele also said he was particularly encouraged by the positive technical feedback from coaches and other officials throughout the tournament.

“The coaches and other technical members have been commending the players and I am so delighted about that. Our target is to make an impact and that is happening,” Odele said.

He added that the organisers were expecting an entertaining finale for both the young players and tennis fans.

“We are looking forward to an exciting final, with all the kids and fans of the game expected to enjoy themselves. This event will keep getting better every year,” he said.
