The biennial football league organised by the Confederation of African Football, known as African Nations Championship, is to be held in Algeria from 8th January to 31st January 2023. The event is often shortened to CHAN, as an acronym for Championnat d’Afrique des Nations, and is conducted alternatively with the Africa Cup of Nations. In its seventh season now, the CHAN proceedings are used to calculate the FIFA World Rankings. Only players from local leagues are allowed to play in the league, so it is a friendly match among the various African teams participating in the league. The first edition only saw 8 teams participating, but now it has expanded to 16 teams competing for the honour. With melbet, you can bet on the team of your choice, as they offer a wide range of options for punters.

Recently Ogenyi Onazi, the central midfielder who plays for the Nigeria National Football team, showered his support for the Super Eagles as they prepare for the qualifier matches that begin next week. On Sunday, the Ghana team will compete with the Nigerian team at Cape Coast for the qualifying match to the CHAN Cup. Since the league is such an important event and can affect their FIFA World Ranking, both teams are under pressure to perform well. Don’t forget that the FIFA World Cup is around the corner too.

Onazi, who has been practicing regularly with the team in Abuja, has watched the team members closely. Having practiced with them, he has noticed the strengths and weaknesses of each of the members. So he showered praises on the team, appreciating their talents, and the hard work that they have been putting in to ensure that their team qualifies. He is all praises for the coaches as well, and applauded their dedication to the team, and their resolve to get the team into the league.

He especially appreciated the head coach, Salisu Yusuf, who had closely studied the players, and assembled the best people playing the various domestic leagues. He also felt grateful to the technical team, who are ready to go out of the way to be able to Yusuf in his services to the team. Onazi, of all people realises the value of a good team, on the field, and off the field. The management plays a crucial part for the efficient functioning of any given team, and it is definitely important to give credit to backstage efforts, who make the glamorous performances possible.

With spirits running high, the Nigerian team is definitely looking forward to the qualifier match scheduled on Sunday. If recent track record is to be taken into consideration, it is evident that the team has been doing better and better. Moreover, with Mr Sunday Dare’s dedication to the development of sports, Nigerian teams have definitely seen an immense improvement. With such great improvements, it is not difficult to understand why Onazi is so sure of his team.
