Nigerian investors of Igbo extraction have been advised to see the industrialisation of the South East zone as a major priority in their business agenda.
The president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, gave the advice during an interaction with newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Iwuanyanwu said all the raw materials for rapid industrialisation of Igbo land are available in large quantities in virtually all the states in the region.
He said limestone for cement and ceramics production are available in Imo, Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi states, while sand for glass production is at Azumini River in Abia State.
The Ohanaeze leader said the limestone available will be enough for four to five cement factories in the zone and if established would supply cement to other African countries.
Iwuanyanwu maintained that Igbos are known all over the world as great developers and good people who do not grab what does not belong to them but ensure that they live responsibly with the owners of the land.
He said that they create goods and services, pay their taxes anywhere they find themselves. He said that in spite of all they do to please the people, they are hated because of their ingenuity.
On Nnamdi Kanu, the Ndigbo leader said efforts had been intensified for his freedom and hoped that he would soon be released.
He said the court had handled the matters and ruled that he had no case to answer. He warned that nothing should happen to him in custody because if he dies in prison, there will be problems.
In his speech, Ohanaeze chieftain Chief Innocent Madubuko thanked the group’s leadership for honouring him and advised the executives to always offer genuine advice to the leadership.
The event was attended by the vice president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Ogene, assistant national treasurer, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, president Ohanaeze Ndigbo Imo chapter Barr C.J. Ihemedu, Rivers State’s president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Lucky Chukwu, Chief Bestman Udoka, Chief Samuel Iwuchukwu – chairman of BoT and patron AASDU, Chief Mike Agbasi, the Ikenga Ukpor, Chief Sir Chijioke Tasie – mayor (Owerri) Nkworji, among other dignitaries.
