The special adviser on Women Mobilisation to Edo State governor, Hon. Omorede Osifo, has expressed strong confidence that Governor Monday Okpebholo’s performance in office would compel citizens to urge him to seek a second term after completing his first four years.
Osifo described Governor Okpebholo as a transformational leader whose emergence, she said, was divinely ordained to reposition Edo State.
Recounting her involvement in his electoral victory, she said she committed herself fully to his campaign after becoming convinced of his capacity to deliver meaningful development across the state.
According to her, the pace and scale of projects already underway under the Okpebholo administration have exceeded public expectations, noting that infrastructural developments such as flyover bridges were once thought unattainable in Edo State.
She maintained that these projects signal a clear departure from the past and demonstrate the governor’s determination to correct what she described as years of mismanagement and abuse of public resources.
She stressed that the governor’s leadership style is defined by focus, discipline and accountability, adding that his administration is addressing inherited challenges and restoring public confidence in governance.
Also speaking in her capacity as deputy national treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osifo said her appointment as a special adviser was based on her proven track record in political mobilisation.
She expressed gratitude to the governor for the confidence reposed in her, pledging to deliver tangible results, particularly in voter engagement and women participation.
Osifo revealed that Governor Okpebholo has set a target of delivering 3.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, emphasising that women would play a decisive role in achieving this goal.
She projected that female voters alone would account for at least two million votes, describing women as the backbone of grassroots political mobilisation.
Addressing concerns about Nigeria drifting toward a one-party system, Osifo dismissed such fears, arguing that the growing acceptance of the APC is as a result of performance and public trust.
