The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, has hailed the Nigeria National League (NNL) board, led by Mr George Aluo, for delivering a “classy and world-class” Super Four draw in Lagos. He also commended Toptier Sports Management for its game-changing investment in the league.
Speaking at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja GRA, Olopade described the event as a new benchmark for Nigerian football. “I must commend Mr George Aluo and the entire NNL board for putting together an event like this,” he said. “This is one of the best draws I have witnessed in Nigeria. I encourage the board to keep up the good work, because the NSC’s doors will always remain open to support you.”
The NNL serves as a vital bridge between the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Nationwide League One, with a strong emphasis on youth development and producing talent for Nigeria’s age-grade national teams.
Olopade reserved special praise for Toptier Sports Management, headed by Mrs Chichi Nwoko. “I also want to appreciate Toptier for investing heavily in the league. The results of Toptier’s investment are what we are all enjoying today,” he noted. “If we can have an elaborate and world-class draw like this, I am certain the Super Four is going to be massive.”
He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment: “We are committed to sports development in Nigeria, and we will do our best to ensure that the Nigerian sports industry becomes a force to be reckoned with across the globe.”
The event drew key figures from Nigerian football, including NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Remo Stars chairman Hon. Kunle Soname, coach Abdullahi Usman Biffo, and former internationals Victor Ikpeba and Daniel Amokachi.
Attention now turns to Ikenne, Ogun State, where the NNL Super Four tournament will take place from 4 to 8 May 2026 at Remo Stars Stadium. Four promoted NPFL sides – Doma United, Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos, and Ranchers Bees – will vie for the ₦10 million prize and the 2025/2026 NNL title.
