The chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment of Hon. Bukola Olopade as the director-general and secretary of the NSC.

Dikko said the appointment would usher in an additional value addition for Nigerian sports and emphasised the experience and energy Olopade would bring to the commission.

On Thursday, the Presidency announced Olopade as the director-general and secretary of NSC.

Olopade also serves as chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the upcoming National Sports Festival in Ogun State in January, 2025.

He brings significant experience to the role as a former two-term commissioner of youth and sports in Ogun State and with huge private sector experience in advancing the course of sports in Nigeria.

He is set to work closely with the Dikko to advance the commission’s initiatives and strengthen Nigerian sports.

Dikko praised Olopade for his track record and commitment, noting that his appointment into the NSC would add value and innovation in Nigerian sports.

He expressed his delight to having Olapade on board whom he described as a long-time friend and brother that he had been working with for decades with a shared vision to make Nigerian sports better.
