Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has confirmed she will attend the closing ceremony of the third edition of the National Para Games in Abuja.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, where the games have been held.
This was disclosed by the National Sports Commission (NSC) in a statement issued by Kola Daniel, Special Assistant on Media in the Office of the Director-General, and made available to journalists on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the First Lady will serve as Special Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony, which is set to hold on Friday inside the main bowl of the stadium.
Her presence is expected to provide a fitting climax to what organisers have described as a highly successful edition of the games, bringing together some of Nigeria’s finest para-athletes from across the country.
Senator Tinubu is widely recognised as a passionate supporter and promoter of para sports in Nigeria. Over the years, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to sports development through sustained advocacy, funding and direct support for various sporting initiatives.
She also served as Grand Patron of the 2025 Africa Women’s Volleyball Club Championship held in Abuja, further underscoring her dedication to the growth of sports in the country.
Beyond this, the First Lady has consistently championed the inclusion and empowerment of persons living with disabilities, particularly through sports, using her platform to promote opportunities and recognition for para-athletes nationwide.
