The vice chairman of the African Democratic Party (ADC) in Ondo State, Dr. Eric Oluwole, has formally resigned his membership, citing irreconcilable differences within the party’s leadership.
Oluwole announced his decision in a letter on Thursday addressed to the leadership of Ward 7 in Ondo West Local Government Area, stating that the ongoing leadership crisis in the party frustrated his political aspirations and those of his supporters.
“I, Dr. Eric Oluwole, ADC State Vice Chairman overseeing Ondo Central Senatorial District, hereby voluntarily resign my membership due to irreconcilable differences over the leadership crisis,” he said.
Oluwole explained that the decision followed consultations with his political leaders, allies, supporters, and his entire political structure. He noted that the crisis hindered his political structure from contributing meaningfully to both Ondo State and Nigeria’s political development.
“Sadly, this lingering crisis is beyond my understanding. I can no longer cope with this unsettling development in my political career,” he added, warning that the situation posed a threat to Nigeria’s political stability and development.
He further stated that he and his political structure would pursue future political careers elsewhere in a more conducive environment and indicated plans to join another political party to continue serving the people of the state and country.
Oluwole stressed that forgiveness and reconciliation are essential for unity in any political party, enabling members to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s political and socio-economic development.
“Regrettably, where these qualities are lacking, members work in vain regardless of their intentions or programmes. Due to these irreconcilable differences, I hereby officially resign my membership of the ADC. Furthermore, my entire political structure and allies are also withdrawing from the party with me,” he said.
