Ondo APC Warns Members Against Anti-Party Activities, Threatens Expulsion

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Reconciliation Committee in Ondo State has warned members against engaging in anti-party activities, threatening severe sanctions, including expulsion, for those found working against the party and its candidates.

The committee, chaired by Hon. Biyi Poroye, issued the warning as part of its ongoing efforts to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by the committee’s secretary, Hon. Dele Olanubi, the APC said it would not tolerate members who abandon the party to contest elections on the platform of rival political parties while still claiming affiliation with the APC.

The committee declared that any member who had left the APC to contest elective office under another platform had effectively severed ties with the party and could no longer claim membership or associated privileges.

It also warned serving members against attending clandestine meetings, consultations or engagements with persons who had left the APC or were contesting against the party, describing such conduct as a serious breach of party discipline.

“Loyalty must be total. Support for candidates flying the party’s flag is non-negotiable,” the committee said, adding that members found wanting could forfeit their privileges, recognition and entitlements within the party.

The committee further rejected what it described as the contradiction of claiming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while simultaneously undermining APC candidates at other levels.

“There exists no moral or political justification for purporting to support the President while simultaneously undermining the party’s candidates at other levels,” it stated.

As part of its reconciliation efforts, the committee said it had held a constructive engagement with Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who reportedly reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and denied ever engaging in anti-party activities.

According to the committee, Aiyedatiwa recalled his political journey from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which later metamorphosed into the APC, and pledged not to join or support another political party or individuals who had left the APC to contest against its candidates.

The committee expressed concern over reports that some members had been attending meetings convened by former APC members, saying such actions could undermine the ongoing reconciliation process.

It appealed to members to remain committed to the party and avoid actions capable of creating fresh divisions, stressing that the APC was greater than individual ambitions and that reconciliation efforts would continue across the state.
