Youths in Ondo State have praised the minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, for what they described as impactful community development efforts, particularly the ongoing expansion of a renewable energy streetlight project across parts of the state.

The youths, under the Coalition of Ondo Emerging Leaders (COEL), said the initiative is transforming both urban and rural areas by enhancing nighttime visibility and improving security and social well-being.

Speaking with journalists in Akure, the state capital, the chairman of the coalition, Oluseye Akintunde, said the latest phase of the project has recorded significant installations across several communities.

He noted that 100 streetlights were installed in Obiringba Town along Irese Road, 50 in Ogun Ajobo Community, 33 in Shagari Village, and another 50 along Irese Road, improving illumination in previously dark areas.

He further disclosed that 233 streetlights were installed around the Police Headquarters SIB–Seat of Wisdom Catholic Schools axis in Alagbaka, while another 233 units were also deployed in Imafon Community.

‎Akintunde added that additional installations have been completed in several inner-city areas, including Odopetu, Odige, Oke Padi, Otutubiosun, Igboliki, Ijeminkin, Irowo, and Hospital Lane, covering both central and grassroots communities.
