‘Osimhen Ruled Himself Out Of Konyaspor Clash’

Galatasaray’s prominent striker, Victor Osimhen, was absent from their recent Super Lig defeat to Konyaspor, a decision reportedly made by the player himself due to injury, rather than a managerial choice. This information comes from Turkish football commentator, Ibrahim Seten.

The Nigerian international missed the unexpected 2-0 away loss for the league leaders. While Galatasaray confirmed an injury, fresh details have emerged regarding discussions between Osimhen and manager Okan Buruk.

Speaking on the 343 Digital YouTube channel, Seten stated that Buruk had hoped Osimhen would be available for the trip. However, the striker ultimately prioritised his physical condition.

“According to information from Okan Buruk’s team, Victor Osimhen declined to travel to Konya as he was experiencing discomfort in his knee,” Seten explained. “Okan Buruk wanted him with the team and to play, but Osimhen communicated that, despite the coach’s wishes, he was in significant pain and required rest.”

As Galatasaray reflects on the surprising defeat, focus now shifts to a pivotal European encounter.
