Alex Iwobi has offered a fascinating glimpse into Victor Osimhen’s relentless drive, calling the striker’s mentality “sick” in the best possible way.
Speaking on a podcast, the Fulham midfielder described how Osimhen’s fierce will to win shows up even in training. “He’s always getting hurt because he puts his leg or head where he shouldn’t. He’s always fighting,” Iwobi said.
“He doesn’t care who you are Van Dijk or a non-league player he will fight. He treats a Champions League game like a kickabout with friends.”
Iwobi added that Osimhen sometimes cheats just to secure victory. “It’s a sick mentality,” he said, but noted it stems from the striker’s tough upbringing as the youngest of seven in Lagos.
Now at Galatasaray, Osimhen has scored 56 goals in 70 matches. For Nigeria, he has 35 goals in 52 caps, closing in on the all-time record, while Iwobi remains the creative force behind him.
Together, they helped the Super Eagles win AFCON silver in 2023 and bronze in 2025.
