The director general of the Abia State Strategic Communications Bureau, Onyebuchi Ememanka, has criticised human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, over his remarks describing Governor Alex Otti as overrated.
Sowore, in a viral video, had said that what he observed in Aba while participating in the free Nnamdi Kanu protest amounted to a “half-transformation” of the commercial city, contrary to claims of significant progress by supporters of the Labour Party-led administration.
Reacting, Ememanka dismissed Sowore’s comments as baseless, alleging that the activist visited Abia State with the intent of carrying out a “cheap hatchet job.”
He argued that it was inappropriate for Sowore to assess the governor’s performance after spending less than 24 hours in Aba.
“How can Sowore spend less than 24 hours in Aba and know Aba more than those who live here?” Ememanka queried.
He maintained that Governor Otti enjoys widespread support among residents of Aba due to ongoing developmental efforts in the city.
“Anyway, Sowore is lucky. If he wanted to know first hand if Governor Alex Otti is loved and appreciated by the people in Aba, he should have told the people that day that Otti is not doing anything.
“He would have had a taste of Umu Aba that day,” Ememanka said.
