The paramount ruler of Obudu local government area of Cross River State, His Royal Majesty Utsu Felix Okudare, has declared that the newly commissioned Nigerian Navy Special Intervention Quick Impact Projects executed in his domain will transform lives in the area.

The monarch made the remarks yesterday during a telephone conversation with LEADERSHIP Sunday while expressing joy over the intervention in his domain.

The projects, commissioned at Kutia village, comprise a 250-capacity multipurpose town hall and two solar-powered boreholes built in honour of former Chief of Training, Rear Admiral Clement Egbinta Atebi.

Okudare lauded the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, for the gesture, stressing that it would boost the social and economic well-being of residents.

He said the hall would serve as a rallying point for peace and unity, adding, “We will put the facility to optimal use for religious and community functions, dispute resolution, youth empowerment and cultural celebrations.”

He also said the boreholes would provide “clean and potable drinking water, reduce water-borne diseases and ease the daily struggle for water for women and children.”

Earlier, Vice Admiral Abbas, represented by Rear Admiral Steven Ibrahim, described the project as “another milestone in the Nigerian Navy’s Civil Military Cooperation” that aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The project facilitator, Rear Admiral Atebi, said the project “represents unity, progress, hope and collective aspirations,” urging residents to use the facilities responsibly.
