Team Nigeria’s Blessing Oborodudu is out of the contest for the women’s wrestling 68kg gold at Paris Olympics after losing her semi-final bout to Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova Monday’s night.

The Bayelsa-born wrestler, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games, secured her place in the semifinals after beating Canada’s Linda Morais 8-2 and Lattoque Koumba of France 6-2 respectively in her first two fights earlier on Monday.

She however failed to become the first Nigerian wrestler to qualify for two consecutive Olympic Games final.

Due to her loss for gold, Oborodudu will now fight for bronze medal unlike in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games where she qualified for final.

Zhumanazarova waits for the winner of the repechage match for a gold medal bout.
