Participants have begun arriving in Abuja for a three-day CAF Women’s Football Administrators workshop, running from 26th to 28th April.
The event, scheduled to hold at the Exclusive Serene Hotel and Suites, will welcome chairpersons of Women Football Commissions and heads of women’s football departments from the seven WAFU-B nations: Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Togo, and Benin.
The workshop will officially open on Sunday, with Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation and WAFU-B, declaring proceedings open.
He will be joined by WAFU-B Executive Director Philippe Tchere, CAF’s Head of Women’s Football Goshime Meskerem, WAFU-B Women’s Football Commission President Amina Amani, and WAFU-B Women’s Football Development Manager Precious Dede.
Former Nigeria goalkeeper Precious Dede will facilitate the workshop alongside Meskerem and CAF instructors Jules McGeever and Thuba Sibanda.
The agenda includes presentations on the growth of women’s football in Africa and globally, regional challenges and achievements, and leadership scenarios. Day two will cover strategic planning, building successful clubs (featuring case studies of Mamelodi Sundowns and ASEC Mimosas), women’s football branding, and development frameworks. The final day will focus on strategic planning, framing findings, and implementing action plans.
