Payattitude, a Nigerian payment scheme known for pioneering the multibank app and USSD code *569#, has announced a strategic partnership with PAPSSCARD, the card scheme of the Pan-African Payment & Settlement System (PAPSS).

The partnership will allow Payattitude cards issued by banks and other deposit-taking institutions to be co-branded with PAPSSCARD, Discover, Diners and Pulse, enabling their acceptance across payment networks in Nigeria, Africa, and globally.

According to both organisations, the collaboration will support seamless, real-time, and secure transactions for Payattitude–PAPSSCARD cardholders across markets. The PAPSSCARD scheme, an initiative of the African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank) and a key component of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), facilitates instant cross-border payments in local currencies.

A director of Payattitude, Dr. Agada Apochi, said the partnership underscores the company’s commitment to building alliances that promote inclusive and borderless payments. He added that the agreement now offers Nigerian cardholders and financial institutions the benefits of a locally issued card that works worldwide.

Acting CEO of PAPSSCARD, John Bosco Sebabi, said the organisation aims to connect African payment ecosystems, cut cross-border payment costs, and strengthen the continent’s control over its payment infrastructure. He described the collaboration with Payattitude as a major step toward a more unified African payment system.

Also speaking, CEO of PAPSS, Mike Ogbalu, said the partnership advances efforts to remove payment barriers across Africa. He noted that combining PAPSSCARD’s cross-border capabilities with Payattitude’s leadership in Nigeria’s digital payments space moves the continent closer to a single African market where individuals and businesses can transact easily and securely within and beyond Africa.
