A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) in Borno State, Hon. Kudla Milinda Haske has lauded Nigerians for showing empathy and rallying round the Maiduguri flood victims without minding political differences, describing the gesture as a good omen.
Speaking during a sympathy visit to Government House with journalists in Maiduguri yesterday, Milinda Haske who made a donation of N19.5 million to support the victims of flood disaster, said it showcased the importance of the unity and togetherness by Nigerians.
He said he was saddened by the magnitude of destruction caused by the flood in Maiduguri and its environs, adding that the carnage, which included the loss of lives, properties and unimaginable displacements, is heart-wrenching.
“I donated my widow’s mite, a sum of N19.5 million to support the flood victims, Borno belong to all of us and we believe that it will bounce back stronger and better,” the immediate past candidate for the Southern Borno Senatorial District seat under the opposition PDP in the 2023 general election said.
” The generosity of contribution across political parties is unparalleled. I will say that this flood disaster has brought all political parties together and this is good ,because this showed that we take humanity before our intrest.
” Across several communities, the flood has wreaked havoc; even people are calling me from Southern Borno that their rice that was at the point of harvest and homes was submerged.The demonstration of unity amidst diversity is truly commendable,” he further said.
