The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mourned the death of its former acting national secretary, Prince Dr Aderemi Akitoye.
Akitoye, who acted as PDP national scribe during the Bamanga Tukur chairmanship, was a former Commissioner in Lagos State and a member of its Board of Trustees (BOT).
The Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led PDP, described Akitoye as a pillar of strength within the party, adding that his leadership style was admired by all.
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, said “It is with a huge sense of loss that the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Kabiru Turaki, SAN extends its deepest condolences to the Lagos State Chapter of our great party on the painful passing of a party icon, Prince Dr Aderemi Akitoye, from the Akitoye Royal Family.
“As a pillar of strength within our party, who once served as Acting National Secretary, and a member of the Board of Trustees. His leadership style was admired by all, especially the staff of the secretariat, and life was defined by unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy and good governance.
“It is our prayer that Almighty God will grant his soul eternal rest and comfort all his survivors with the grace to bear this irreparable loss.
“Please accept the heartfelt condolences of the national leadership, members and staff of the PDP,” the party said.
