Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has dismissed the threat by the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Umar Ganduje, that the APC would reclaim Oyo and Osun States in the Southwest region.
The party, while reacting to the statement credited to Ganduje when he received Dr Gbenga Adegbola who joined the APC in Abuja, quoted Ganduje as saying that their party would in its plan for homogeneity have Oyo and Osun State in its kitty in the next elections.
The party urged the APC chairman to desist from acting in a way capable of inciting violence in the Southwest and undermining the democratic credential of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in Osogbo, Osun State, the PDP chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi accused the APC national chairman of working to set the Southwest ablaze, describing him as a failed leader who, having lost his home base, wants to bring misfortune to the government of the president.
Bisi noted that Osun has witnessed so much development in the last two years of PDP’s reign, more than in the 12 years of alleged maladministration by the APC, adding that the people of Osun State are not weaklings who could be controlled remotely from the APC national secretariat.
While claiming that PDP is not scared of Ganduje’s threat, Bisi advised Ganduje to focus on how his party, the APC would reclaim Kano State first before thinking of imposing an “impossible homogeneity” in the southwest.
“It’s so unfortunate that our politics has gone so low that people are allowed to freely speak without consequences. President Bola Tinubu did not send Mr Ganduje on this self-destructive campaign. Increasingly, the APC chairman is acting like a fifth columnist who is working to set the home base of Mr President ablaze.
“At a time when the APC is suffering from serious internal bleeding in the North, Ganduje is busy working to destroy the home region of Mr President. He apparently has no answer to stop APC hemorrhaging in the North or probably colluding with those defectors across the North,” Bisi claimed.
