Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, launched a blistering attack on prominent figures within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde, and former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, of involvement in what he described as “419” and fraudulent practices.

Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja, Wike questioned the integrity of the PDP leaders, expressing concern over what he portrayed as entrenched dishonesty within the party.

“When will 419 stop? When will people stop being fraudulent? I don’t know what they tell their children,” Wike said.

The former Rivers State governor singled out Wabara, citing his controversial impeachment as Senate President over alleged N50m fraud and accusing him of lacking credibility.

“If you know Wabara’s background, you will know that he’s fraudulent. He left office because of ₦50 million. That’s the kind of mistake PDP will make or have already made — a man with a question mark,” he said.

Wike further raised questions about alleged party funds, urging scrutiny of Wabara’s role.

“Ask him, where is the ₦500 million of the PDP,” he added.

The FCT minister also criticised a senior party figure, accusing him of disobeying a court order.

“Look at the one you said is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Turaki, he went to court and apologised when the court issued a warrant. A Senior Advocate disobeying the court because of affairs with women,” he said.

Turning to his formee ally, Governor Makinde, Wike expressed disappointment, suggesting he had expected better from the Oyo State governor.

“I thought Seyi Makinde is young. I didn’t know he is involved in this 419 thing. They went to court — I didn’t go to court,” he stated.

Wike also referenced other factional members of the PDP in his remarks, grouping them with those he accused of questionable conduct and of selling illegal nomination forms for the 2027 elections within the party.
