The Permanent Secretary of the State House, Temitope Fashedemi, has urged members of staff of the nation’s Presidency to stay away from unnecessary bickering and acrimony, stressing that it could have a negative effect on output and professionalism.

According to the Permanent Secretary, adherence to good ethical conduct, hard work, and professionalism always bring reward at the end of the day.

In a statement by Director (Information & Public Relations), State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, Fashedemi said this on Tuesday at the State House in an event to mark the retirement of two members of the State House top management, Mr Sule Yusuf Tegina, Director, Finance and Accounts and Ali Abu Sufiyan, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, both of whom were retiring after clocking the mandatory 60 years of age as stipulated in the Public Service rules.

Fashedemi lauded the retiring Directors for their remarkable service and lasting contributions to the efficiency and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

He described them as seasoned administrators whose dedication, competence and integrity significantly strengthened institutional operations over the years. He urged them to continue to be useful to the society and the service in whatever way possible.

“I enjoyed working with you, keep your brain active, do not retire to village, stay around, you have added value to the State House workforce, I wish you well and I encourage staff to reach out to you for advice where necessary,” he said.

Fashedemi reiterated his readiness to make staff welfare a top priority of his administration, stating that reward sometimes comes unannounced. He, however, stressed that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”

In his remarks, the retiring Director of Finance and Accounts Mr Tegina expressed deep appreciation to the State House management and his colleagues for the opportunity to serve.

“I have worked in different places before I was posted here, I enjoyed working with you, Permanent Secretary, and all the staff of State House. In fact, I have been lucky not to work in a toxic environment throughout my career,” he said.

On his part, Mr Sufiyan expressed gratitude to the Permanent Secretary and members of staff of his department for their support during his time with them.

The event featured presentation of gifts as colleagues, family members and well-wishers gathered to honour the retirees for their meritorious service to the nation, praying for God’s guidance, good health and a blissful retirement life for them.
