Peseiro Hails Rivers United For Reaching CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has congratulated Rivers United following their CAF Confederation Cup 2-0 win over Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Sunday night.

Rivers United missed two penalties in the game.

Alex Oyowah scored the first goal of the game in the 89th minute, and he converted a penalty one minute later to make it 2-0.

The first leg of the tie finished 0-0 two weeks ago at the Stade Muncipal Yamoussoukro, Burkina Faso.

Rivers United have now qualified for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup 2-0 on aggregate.

Peseiro took to his personal X handle (formerly known as Twitter) to hail the Pride of Rivers following their achievement.

“Congratulations to Rivers United on making it to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. Best of luck in the competition!,” he wrote.

Recall that Rivers United reached the quarter-final stage of the CAF Confederation Cup last season.

Up next for Rivers United is their first Nigeria Premier Football League game of the season against Niger Tornadoes billed for the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Sunday.
