The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has dismissed reports alleging the removal of its Chairman, Governor Hope Uzodimma, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The statement, signed by the Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum, Folorunso S. Aluko, dated May 7, 2026, comes amid growing political speculation over the leadership of the Forum.
In a statement , the Forum’s Secretariat said no meeting was held where such a decision was taken, insisting that Uzodimma remains the authentic Chairman of the body.
“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating on some media platforms alleging the removal of its Chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON,” the statement read.
The Forum maintained that the report was “entirely false, baseless and without any iota of truth,” stressing that the Secretariat has no knowledge or record of any resolution removing the chairman.
According to the statement, “No meeting of the Forum was held at which such a decision was taken. The PGF Secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the Chairman.”
The Forum further reaffirmed its unity and commitment to collective governance, urging party faithful, members of the public and media organisations to disregard the report entirely.
“The Forum remains united, focused and committed to its responsibilities. Members of the public, party faithful and the media are advised to disregard the said report in its entirety,” the statement added.
