A renowned philanthropist and passionate advocate for education, youth, and women development, Dr (Amb) Halima Suleiman Zakari, has donated N50,000 cash to support 85 young girls each, who were treating Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF), mostly as a result of sexual abuse, underage marriages and childbirth.

Dr Zakari made the donation through her non-profit organisation, Nana Halima Empowerment Initiatives, when she visited Jahun Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) Hospital in Jigawa State during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration

VVF is an opening that develops between the bladder and the wall of the vagina. The result is that urine leaks out of the vagina leading to a bad smell. In fixing this, most women will need to have a catheter in the bladder for a few weeks while the surgical area heals.

Dr. Halima went round the wards in the General Hospital, Jahun, and gave the cash support to the patients on their sick beds.
