The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, made his first official appearance on Saturday since the beginning of the controversy surrounding the throne following his dethronement by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The occasion was the grand Quranic recitation ceremony organised annually by the family of the late Sheikh Khalifa Isyaka Rabiu.

Held at the Sheikh Muhammadu Rabi’u Mosque in Goron Dutse, the ceremony was led by Khalifa Sheikh Muhd Nafi’u Isyaku Rabiu.

It marked the completion of 3,000 Quranic recitations and included prayers for peace, stability, and divine intervention to alleviate the nation’s economic challenges.

Bayero’s attendance at the event marks his first public appearance in the midst of the ongoing tussle surrounding the throne of the Emir of Kano.

The 15th Emir had moved in a procession from the Nassarawa Mini Palace to the Isyaku Rabiu Mosque at Goron Dutse and followed the same route back home.

LEADERSHIP reports that Emir Bayero’s appearance follows the recent public reappearance of the 16th Emir of Muhammadu Sanusi II, who attended a state-held event at the Kano Government House on Thursday.

This outing marked Sanusi’s own return to the public eye, since assuming the throne after Bayero’s dethronement by the state government.
