The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has warned parents about the circulation of sweets and cookies suspected to contain intoxicating substances.

The warning was made in a video posted on the official Facebook page of the agency’s spokesperson, ASN Sadiq Maigatari.

In the video, Maigatari revealed that some candies, which look like regular chocolate, may be layered with harmful substances that intoxicate consumers.

He noted that the products are being sold to unsuspecting school children.

Maigatari urged parents to carefully check the ingredients of sweets and cookies their children consume to ensure they do not contain cannabis.

“If you look closely, the symbol of cannabis is sometimes illustrated on the package, so parents have to be wary of this so their children do not ingest such products,” he warned.

Maigatari also advised parents to monitor their children’s behavior for signs of substance exposure.

“Sudden changes in eating habits and unusual sleeping patterns can be indicators that something is wrong,” he said.
