Pro-government counter-protesters in their large numbers gathered at Mahmoud Ribadu Square in Yola, Adamawa State capital, on Thursday, to appreciate President Bola Tinubu for championing local government autonomy and providing sustainable peace in the State

The crowd, which apparently took to the streets to counter the much-publicised nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests, held placards with various inscriptions, which read; “We thank President Tinubu for local government autonomy”, “We thank President Tinubu for Relative Peace in Adamawa”, and “We say capital no to dangerous anti-democracy hiding under protest”.

However, markets, shops and banks were shut down for fear of possible looting by hoodlums as the nationwide hardship protest also began in the state on Thursday.

Some traders were, however, seen around their shops, while few others opened for business.

At Jimeta Central Market in Yola, all the four gates were under lock and key with heavy eagle-eyed security personnel seen around the place patrolling to avert possible breach of peace.
