PICTORIAL: Zulum Holds Crucial Close-door Meetings With Service Chiefs Over Boko Haram Resurgence

Borno State governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has held a crucial closed-door meetings with Nigeria’s top military leaders in Abuja on Thursday.

The meetings, which were held separately with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, was to deploy a renewed push for coordinated action against insurgents in the North-East.

Sources from the meeting revealed that the discussions centred on strengthening military operations in the North-East, improving intelligence sharing, and addressing the recent surge in attacks by the terror group.

Recall that Governor Zulum had on Tuesday during an expanded security meeting held in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, lamented the recent surge in attacks by the terrorists on civilian and military facilities in the State, calling for decisive action to stop the situation from getting out of control.

Zulum was accompanied to the meeting by the Senators representing Borno South, Mohammed Ali Ndume; Borno North, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, and Borno Central, Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan.

Others in the governor’s entourage included Hon. Mukhtar Betera Aliyu alongisde Engr. Bukar Talba, both members of the House of Representatives, and Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar.
