The Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA)  has raised  the alarm over the resurgence of violent attacks on its communities by persons bent on destabilizing the peace of the area.

MDA  in a statement  issued by the director of Public Affairs, Friday Derwam  said the latest incident which occured in Yilpo met stiff  resistance from youths of the community who succeeded in wading off the attackers  but left  one person dead and several others injured in the process.

MDA Global president  Deacon Bulus Dabit expressed  dismay at the attack and noted that just few days ago similar attack was carried out on Kwahas community in Panyam district where a life was lost in the process.

Derwan added that  the last attack took place very close to a military check point at Yilpo and no arrest or confrontation  with the assailants was made.

While commending the good intention of the Operation Enduring Peace ,the president  expressed deep worry over  compromising attitude of some of the security operatives close to crime scenes in the area.

“To restore public confidence in the service he called for accountability and proactive commands and postings of new personnel to enhance  public safety and sustainable peace in the area.

The MDA president further said the enemies of the land are not the youth who have been defending the area saying security operatives should see the youths as their partners and deploy decorum in their operations.

Derwan called on full cooperation with security operatives in the area and  warned  the youth against crimes ,drug abuse, and social behaviour that undermines peace and security.
