The curfew, which takes immediate effect, commenced from midnight of Sunday, March 29 and run until Wednesday, April 1, 2026, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap.

The government said the decision was taken in collaboration with security agencies after the violent incident that led to the loss of lives and left several others injured.

“Following the tragic security incident that occurred at Gari Ya Waye community Angwan Rukuba today, Sunday 29th March 2026, resulting in the loss of lives, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” the statement read.
