Plateau Traders Seek Release Of Seized 25 Trucks

Plateau State chapter of Joint Transport, Traders and Marketers Association (PSJTTMA) has called on the state government to retract its step on the Executive Order 003 2024 by releasing impounded trucks immediately to their owners and providing designated routes and truck terminals for their smooth operations.

LEADERSHIP reports that over 25 trucks has been impounded by the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) for violating the Executive Order on the first day of its implementation . They alleged that some of the impounded trucks were not moving on the road, but were off loading goods at various shops and were towed to VIO office and asked to pay a fine of N500,000 on each trucks
The association made their position known while addressing newsmen in Jos.

They also appealed to the State Government to reduce the restriction time from 9.pm to 6am to 5pm to 7am for efficient working of the Executive Order adding that at the moment no truck owners is willing to convey goods from other states to Plateau which has lead to increase in prices of goods and services in the State.

Abubakar Garba who read the text of the press conference said the association is directly affected by the Executive Order 003 of 2024 and the outright and deliberate refusal of the State Government to listen to them necessitated the press briefing.

He added that they have resolved to declare today 3rd April 2024 sit at home warning strike to show their dissatisfaction with the said Executive Order stressing that they shall continue until lasting solution is found.

Garba further stated that the mandate of the association is to promote peace, economic stability and acceptable behavior within the society stressing that they are ready to support and work with the state government to ensure that the agenda of good governance of the time is now administration is achieved by creating an enabling environment for business to strive.
