The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 14 suspected thugs, notoriously known as ‘Yan Sara-Suka’, following a coordinated security operations across parts of Bauchi metropolis.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, said the arrests were made on January 15, 2026, after a patrol team acted on credible intelligence regarding the activities of suspected Sara-Suka members around Bakaro, Kofar Dumi, Tudun Yarima and Kofar Madaki areas of the state capital.
According to the statement, upon receipt of the intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of ‘A’ Division, Bauchi, CSP Hassan A. Musa, led a team of officers who swiftly swung into action and successfully arrested the suspects.
Those arrested include Abbati (20), Mamman (21), Adamu (22), Khalid (20), Abubakar (19), Mahmood (22), Jabir (21), Haruna (18), Khalid (18), Abubakar (19), Kabiru (20), Anas (20), Mohammed (19), and Abdulkarim (22). The suspects are residents of Kofar Dumi, Kofar Madaki, Tudun Yarima and Bakaro areas, respectively, of Bauchi metropolis.
The Police spokesman stated that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to criminal conspiracy, admitting that they armed themselves with dangerous weapons such as machetes and sharp knives, stormed the affected areas, attacked innocent citizens, dispossessed them of valuables, including mobile phones and cash, and inflicted injuries on victims who resisted.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended members of the public for their continued cooperation and support, and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The statement added that investigations were ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion.
