Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a total of 1,532 suspects in connection with various offences across the state in 2025.
The command also recorded 881 cases during the period under review, of which 880 cases were charged to court.
According to the Police, 124 cases were successfully convicted, while 756 cases are currently awaiting trial, and one case remains under investigation.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib on Wednesday, who highlighted the achievements recorded under the leadership of the 46th Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
SP Habib noted that a noticeable decline in all categories of crime was recorded within the year, reflecting the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Bauchi State.
He explained that the success was achieved through round-the-clock patrols, effective guard duties, and regular raids of identified black spots, aimed at curbing criminal activities.
The statement further revealed that the Command strengthened inter-agency collaboration, stakeholder engagement, visibility policing, and proactive security strategies to secure critical infrastructure across the state.
In terms of recoveries, the Police said they recovered 6 AK-47 rifles, 1 fabricated AK-47 rifle, 12 dane guns, 6 fabricated pistols, 6 fabricated single-barrel guns, 352 rounds of live ammunition, 16 live cartridges and 7 magazines.
Additionally, 5 vehicles and 16 motorcycles were recovered during the period.
Other recovered items include 220 pieces of N1,000 notes suspected to be counterfeit, 5 pieces of $100 bills suspected to be counterfeit, 42 mobile phones recovered in house trespass and armed robbery cases, four blood-stained clothes and 21 sticks linked to culpable homicide cases.
Other are 43 machetes, 3 axes, and 1 axe linked to homicide and cultism cases,
4 laptops recovered in armed robbery cases, some quantities of Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol tablets, armoured cable wires, and three pliers recovered in vandalism cases.
The Command also recovered 12 cows during the year.
According to the Police, the estimated value of properties lost, stolen, or damaged stood at N129.8 million, while N54.2 million worth of property was recovered within the year under review.
SP Nafiu Habib attributed the achievements to timely information provided by members of the public, describing citizens as critical partners in ensuring a safe and secure Bauchi State.
