Police Arrest 19-yr-old For Alleged Rape Of Underage Girl In Ekiti

Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested a 19-year-old Olajobi Taiwo for allegedly defiling an unnamed 15-year-old girl.

Taiwo, a resident of Dallimore area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital allegedly committed the crime alongside his yet-to-be identified friend who is currently at large.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Sunday Abutu said the suspect was apprehended by the operatives of Oke-Ila Divisional Police Headquarters March 7, 2025 at about 11:40am.

Abutu said investigation revealed that the victim ran away from the house for the fear that his mother would beat him for his wrong doing.

The PPRO added that the two suspects lured the underage girl to their room where they both forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

He added that the case has been transferred to the Gender Based Violence Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department at the State Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti, for thorough investigation.

The Command warned citizens to be law-abiding and desist from all forms of sexual crimes and other criminal acts, vowing that those found wanting will be brought to book accordingly.
