Police Arrest 3 Suspected Notorious Cultists In Lagos

Operatives of a tactical team of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspected notorious cultists along the Owode-Ikorodu axis of the state for being in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The suspects were apprehended following a credible tip-off which led to a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Lagos State Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Lagos, named the suspects as Adenuga Tosin, Jesutofunmi Ezekiel, and Adeniji Juwon.

Hundeyin said the suspects were found in possession of a locally made pistol and six live cartridges during the operation.

The Police added that investigations identified the suspects as active members of a cult group known for its involvement in violent crimes.

According to the police spokesman, further investigation showed that the suspects played key roles in facilitating the movement and distribution of illegal firearms across various parts of Lagos State, posing a serious threat to public safety.

The PPRO said efforts were ongoing to apprehend other wanted members of the group.

He added that the arrested suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation in accordance with due process and the rule of law.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh has reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism and criminality.

He also urged residents to support the police with timely information, assuring of the Command’s continued commitment to maintaining peace across Lagos state.
