Police Arrest 3 With Ammunition In Guinea Corn Bag

The police in Katsina State have arrested three suspects in possession of 740 live ammunition concealed inside a bag of guinea corn.

They were apprehended at a checkpoint while transporting the ammunition to Dutsin-ma local government area of the state.

Parading the three suspects at the command’s headquarters, police spokesman, Sadiq Abubakar, said Ahmed Mohammed Kabir, 25, of Hayin Danmani quarters, Kaduna State, Mannir Musa, 25, of Dutsinma town and Aliyu Iliya, 25, of Dankauye village via Ummadau, Safana LGA, Katsina State, were apprehended at Dutsinma town, Dutsinma LGA while attempting to deliver 740 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition to suspected armed bandits in Yauni forest, Ummadau village, Safana LGA of Katsina State.

He added that preliminary investigation revealed that they received the ammunition from Nasarawa State to deliver to one Harisu, a suspected notorious armed bandits kingpin, currently at large. The trio confessed to their involvement and implicated Harisu as the mastermind.
