It added that the police commissioner, Danladi Isa, had advised members of the public to continue to collaborate with the police by reporting any security concerns to the nearest police station.
In another development, the commissioner commissioned the new Nneato Divisional Police Station, Nneato, Umunneochi local government area built by the community.
At the event, Isa expressed appreciation to the community for their thoughtfulness and commitment to enhancing security through the building of the facility.
Isa encouraged them to continue to support to the police by fostering collaboration and volunteering timely and useful information, as well as promptly reporting security concerns.
He stressed that while officers must remain accountable in the discharge of their duties, the public should refrain from taking laws into their hands, warning that attacks on police personnel or facilities would not be tolerated.
The police chief said appropriate channels, such as the Complaint Response Unit of the command and the Office of the Commissioner of Police, were available for reporting any unprofessional conduct of police officers in the state.
While addressing officers posted to the new division, the commissioner charged them to remain professional, efficient and accountable in the discharge of their duties.
He enjoined them to strengthen community policing efforts by working with members of the public to ensure proactive and intelligence-driven policing, in line with the directives of the inspector-general of police (IGP).
