Police Arrest 9 Murder, Robbery Suspects In Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has arrested nine suspected criminals for different offences in the State.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha, during a press briefing in Lokoja on Tuesday, explained that two of the suspects, Thankgod Joseph and Monday Matthew, were arrested with three dane guns, one ahortgun, one single barrel gun, cutlasses, five jerrycans of stolen palm oil and several charms at Onicha-Igo in Ofu LGA of the State.

 

The Command also arrested three suspects, namely Haruna Adamu, Yakubu Mohammed and Harisu Abdulrasheed, for culpable homicide and false alarm.

While, in another development, the Police said it recovered one AK47 rifle with live ammunition from suspected kidnappers as well as the recovery of three Peugeot cars 206 and 406 models from suspected car snatchers, who had been dispossessing innocent people of their possessions.

 

While soliciting for more support from the general public, CP Onuoha assured residents and citizens of continued onslaught against crime and criminal elements in the state.

 

The CP stated, “There is no Police agency anywhere in the world, no matter how well-trained, equipped or motivated can solely achieve its safety mandate without the support from the public. I urge all Kogites, particularly traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, market bodies, farmers, hunters, National Union of Road Transport Workers, okada unions, and tricycle union, among others, for their maximum support in the fight against criminals especially kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists, amongst others.”
