Police Arrest Scammer For Defrauding 175 Job Seekers

The police in Kebbi State has arrested one Hamza Abdullahi Sama for defrauding 175 job seekers.

The spokesman of the command, SP Bashir Usman, in a statement he issued to journalists, said the suspect who is a resident of the KCC area in Birnin Kebbi metropolis, was arrested after the victims reported the matter to police.

The statement further indicated that, the suspect fraudulently obtained a total of N5,200,000 from the victims through deliberate misrepresentation to secure job for them but, unfortunately such employment opportunities does not exist.

During the interrogation, the suspect confessed that he was not assigned by any person, authority or group of personnel to secure job by him on their behalf or by any government’s agency to assist her in recruiting or process jobs on its behalf.

The suspect however confessed to have defrauded over 175 people among them were Yusuf Yahaya alias Baban Zaria, Shafaatu, Yusuf Yahaya alias Baban Zaria Hussai Sani and Ubaida Abubakar who were said to have given him N30,000 each as “processing fees “.

The suspect also falsely presented himself as having the authority and capacity to facilitate employment, replacement in various primary and secondary schools purportedly approved by the Kebbi State government.

The suspect is currently in police custody, and investigation is ongoing with a view to charge him to court after conclusion of the investigation.
