The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial motorcycle thief who was alleged to be responsible for at least, 12 reported cases across the state.

Spokesman of the Police Command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa disclosed this in a statement, stating that the arrest followed a report received on August 11, 2025, from a resident of Dorawa Quarters in Kano.

According to the report, an unidentified man approached the complainant’s shop under the pretext of buying a motorcycle but while taking a Lifan Hajoe model motorcycle for a test ride, the suspect fled with it.

Kiyawa said operatives immediately launched an intelligence-led operation, leading to the arrest of the suspect who was identified as 45-year-old Dahiru Jibrin of Hotoro Quarters, Kano.

The stolen motorcycle was also recovered during the operation.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in several motorcycle theft and has so far been linked to 12 reported cases of similar crimes,” the statement read.
