No fewer than 37 policemen in Kwara State police command who benefitted from the recent promotion exercise approved by the inspector-general of police (IGP), Alkali Baba, have been decorated.

The officers were decorated with their new ranks by the commissioner of police in the state, Mr Tuesday Assayomo.

One officer was promoted from Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) to deputy commissioner of police (DCP), 20 officers were promoted from the rank of assistant superintendent of police (ASP) to deputy superintendent of police (DSP) while 16 others were promoted from ASP 11 to ASP 1.

While congratulating the newly promoted senior officers on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, the Kwara State’s commissioner of Police admonished them to be conscious of the responsibilities attached to their new ranks, adding that the reward for hard-work is more hard work.

He reiterated the IGP’s talk about taking the welfare of officers and men of the force seriously, as exemplified by the recent mass promotion of officers across all the cadres.

Responding on behalf of the affected officers, DCP Wilson Akpan, the outgoing ACP Operation of the command thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, the Police Service Commission and the inspector-general of police for considering them worthy of the new ranks.
