The Oyo State Police Command has arrested and detained singer Rolex Dee following allegations of defamation and cyberbullying directed at Fuji star Taye Currency.
The arrest, which took place in Lagos, followed a petition filed by the Ibadan-based Fuji musician. Police authorities stated that the move was necessary after Rolex Dee allegedly made several defamatory remarks and threats to life across multiple social media platforms.
The controversy reportedly stems from an interview Rolex Dee granted on the popular program Agbaletu. The police noted that the comments made during the broadcast gained significant traction online, causing substantial damage to the complainant’s character.
In a statement released on Friday, the Command dismissed viral reports claiming the arrest was unlawful, describing such claims as unverified and misleading.
“The suspect was alleged to have made defamatory utterances during a public programme known as Agbaletu, which subsequently gained widespread circulation online, thereby aggravating the impact of the alleged misconduct,” the statement read.
The police further clarified that the operation was a result of a formal legal petition and that the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
