Police Disown Fake ‘Wanted’ Notice About Actress Iyabo Ojo

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed a viral “wanted” noitce about Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, describing it as false, misleading, and not issued by the Force.

The poster, which bore the inscription “SPECIAL POLICE WANTED” and carried Iyabo Ojo’s photograph, circulated widely on social media on Tuesday and Wednesday, sparking reactions among Nigerians.

However, in a post shared on its official Facebook page Thursday morning, the Police urged the public to disregard the information.

“FAKE NEWS ALERT! This ‘WANTED’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading & was never posted on any official NPF platform,” the statement read.

The Police further appealed to Nigerians to stop spreading misinformation and instead verify news only from official NPF communication channels.

“Disregard & stop spreading fake news. Verify only from official NPF channels,” the statement added.

The fake poster had claimed that Iyabo Ojo was wanted by the Office of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, but the NPF firmly denied issuing any such notice.
